Learning: what to know
Two different things get called learning: a structured course that takes you from nothing to a working skill, and regular practice with a live person.
Courses work when the outcome is knowledge. Tutors work when the outcome is a habit — speaking, playing, performing — because someone has to correct you in real time.
How to choose
- Check who made the course and when it was last updated.
- For a language, take a trial lesson with two or three tutors before committing.
- Pick a schedule you can keep; consistency beats intensity.
