What Font Squirrel is
Font Squirrel’s value is the checking. Every family is reviewed for a licence that genuinely allows commercial use, which is not something you can assume about a font you found elsewhere.
The webfont generator is the other reason to keep it bookmarked: give it a desktop font you have the right to use, and it produces the web formats and the CSS, with subsetting so the file stays small.
