What Google Fonts is

Google Fonts is where almost every web project starts, and for a Ukrainian site it matters for one specific reason: the Cyrillic filter. You can narrow the whole library to families that actually cover the alphabet instead of discovering the gap after the design is done.

Each family page shows the available weights, a live preview you can type into and, increasingly, variable-font axes that let one file cover a whole range of weights.

Good for

  • Finding a typeface with real Cyrillic support
  • Picking a heading and body pairing for a new site
  • Projects that need a licence with no restrictions to read

Worth knowing

  • Type a Ukrainian sentence into the preview — some families technically have Cyrillic but draw it badly.
  • Loading fonts from Google’s servers sends your visitors’ requests there; self-host if that matters to you.
