Questions
What is a HEIC file?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the photo format iPhones use by default. It takes about half the space of JPG at the same quality, but Windows, many websites and older apps can’t open it.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. The conversion runs in your browser, so private photos never leave your device. Large batches can take a while on older phones.
How do I stop my iPhone saving HEIC?
Open Settings, Camera, Formats and choose Most Compatible. New photos are then saved as JPG. Alternatively, keep HEIC and set Settings, Photos, Transfer to Mac or PC to Automatic, which converts photos when you copy them to a computer.
