Images and design

Prepare photos and graphics for the web: cut out backgrounds, shrink files, convert formats and pick colors that work.

Images and design: what to know

Image work is usually two problems at once — the file is too big, and it is the wrong shape or format for where it has to go. The tools here solve both without opening a design app.

Everything except the background remover runs on your own machine, so a client photo never leaves your computer. Exports keep transparency where it matters and drop it where it does not.

How to choose

  • WebP is the smallest for the web; keep a JPG copy for anything that has to open in older software.
  • Resize before you compress — a 4000px photo scaled down to 1200px is already most of the saving.
  • Check text over an image with the contrast checker before you publish it, not after.
